Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy Tab S range includes some of the most high-end and best slates you’ll find running Android and they are the direct competitor to Apple’s iPads. Apple raised the bar with their latest iPad Pro by packing a seriously powerful M1 chipset. But rumors of a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra are promising – this would be the first Ultra slate from Samsung, and as it’s positioned even higher than the ‘Plus’ model it could give the iPad Pro range a real run for its money.
Today we have a complete set of specifications of the Tab S8 Ultra along with several new features that will make the Tab S8 Ultra hands down the best Android tablet we’ve ever seen. Starting with the features, these are coming from Sammobile who have a good track record when it comes to Samsung leaks. Just like its predecessors, the Tab S8 Ultra will have Dex mode but there’s one limitation with Dex up until now and it’s that it works only in landscape orientation. But that’s not going to be the case with the S8 Ultra. You can use the DeX in portrait orientation as well which will make it more convenient and flexible.
The tablet also gets a dedicated Samsung health app for the very first time that will support in-depth analysis of the health and fitness data. The app will feature a 3-column layout to better use all the screen real estate of the tablet. The device will run on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box. This new One UI on the Tablet will include additional customization options namely the ability to adjust the app window transparency levels and to launch apps easily from a taskbar. Not only that Samsung
will include an Extra Dim mode to reduce eye strain when using the tablet at night.
Now coming to the leaked hardware specifications, here are the RAM and storage configuration.
The RAM will go up to 16GB with 512GB of internal storage. There may not be an expandable storage option. Packed inside is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which is performing even better than Apple’s latest A15 bionic in graphics. But as far as the performance goes, the iPad Pro takes the win here because the M1 chip is still unmatched. Interestingly Qualcomm is working to challenge the M series chip by hiring Apple engineers who made the M1 chip in the first place and will launch it in the second half of 2022 which means the Tab S9 Ultra could get that chipset.
Anyway, the S8 Ultra will not only be the biggest tablet on the market but it will also be one of the thinnest measuring only at 5.5mm which is ridiculously thin for a device that large.
For comparison, the new iPad Pro is 5.9mm thin. Not only that but it also has the thinnest bezels we’ve ever seen on a tablet measuring at just 6.3mm. By the way, the display is 14.6″ 2K AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. They have also included a small notch to house two 12mp camera sensors one of which will have an ultrawide angle lens for wide video calls. It can also record front videos at 4K at 60fps which is again better than iPad Pro’s 1080p video recording. The battery is going to 11200mAh and supports 45W fast charging support. There will be a dual-camera setup at the back with 13 and 6MP resolution and S Pen support which attaches magnetically to the back. Samsung could launch the tab alongside the Galaxy S22 Ultra in February. Of course.
